Abstract

This chapter analyzes factors affecting the duration of registered unemployment and the likelihood of individual transition from unemployment. The results help to evaluate the process of population adaptation to the government system of employment assistance in Russia and the effects of this system on the relative chances of employment for various socio-demographic groups. The empirical modeling is done using transition data analysis. The results indicate significant effect of rules and regulations on incentives to find a job for unemplyed individuals inquiring for the state assistance.
